Yesterday was my first day of my Whole30. For anyone who doesn’t know what a Whole30 is (for 30 days):
No grains
No dairy
No sugar
No alcohol
I feel like I’m missing something….but that’s the gist. I’m also eliminating coffee because the creamer I make (although Paleo) has maple syrup in it. So, chai tea it is!! However, I’m not really complaining because I add coconut milk that has been flavored with vanilla beans and cinnamon. It is delicious!
My husband and I are going to visit my parents in a couple weeks and at first my plan was to cheat just for the weekend, but then I realized that really defeats the whole purpose. So, even though my parents always have good wine and cider on hand, I will pass. The even harder part will be watching my Broncos without drinking. Water doesn’t quite decrease the stress in the same way!
Yesterday I had a late breakfast of leftover brisket and green bean casserole (already Whole30 approved). For dinner we had chipotle shredded chicken, roasted red cabbage seasoned with za’atar. I also tried to think of something I would be excited about for breakfast: baconnaise! I made egg salad with baconnaise and will eat it with leftover cabbage.
